After an April 2004 concert in Flagstaff, Arizona, I interviewed reggae legend Toots Hibbert of Toots and the Maytals. I wrote a magazine feature about the concert, the band’s history and its new album, “True Love,” which won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

Toots shared insights from his life and musical influences after 40 years as a musician, an influential pioneer in Jamaican music.

Here’s the audio recording of our short one-on-one interview, which took place in his backstage dressing room.
