Last fall, the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, on the campus of Montclair State in New Jersey, was the victim of theft. A huge collection of prized baseball artifacts — not only those of the Yankee legend’s career — wound up in the hands of thieves.

The museum stayed in business, serving the public while working tirelessly to recover from the huge setback.
Just days after the theft, Dave Kaplan, the museum and center’s director, summed it up this way in an email to me: “We’ve received an amazing outpouring of support from all over and that’s very gratifying. The good news is our programs are up and running and we’re determined more than ever to continue our mission.”
